Back in the 1960s, Phyllis Olson and a small group of local visual artists began displaying their art in the city park for a weekend in July. From this simple beginning, grew one of Cadillac's most popular and enduring summer festivals, The Cadillac Festival of the Arts.
This Festival, the third weekend in July, boasts something from all the arts, but the crown jewel is the Phyllis Olson Art Fair. The Cadillac Area Artists' Association coordinates the Art Fair in the Downtown Cadillac city park
The art fair is a juried show. Exhibitors must submit digital images of their artwork which are viewed by a jury made up of CAAA members, specializing in various media.
The art fair is comprised of up to 100 booths, so only the best arts and fine crafts each year are admitted. Jurying the art entries takes one evening each year, but the whole job of organizing the art fair takes up hundreds of hours for our art fair committee members.
There are an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 customers who come each year to enjoy and buy at the festival.
Current members of the Cadillac Area Artists Association are exempt from the jury process. However, in order to have a booth, members should attend a certain amount of meetings each year.
2012 Price Per Booth:
$75.00 for Saturday
$30.00 per exhibitor for Friday Evening (Exhibiting on Friday is optional. This is a one-time flat fee; not a per space fee.)
There is also a $10.00 non-refundable jury fee for those who are required to send digital images of their work for jurying.
